How do you pronounce "Dobby?"

The whole time I read the books, I pronounced it doe-bee. Hearing it in the movie, it sounded like that to me too. But then I heard someone pronounce it dah-bee or daw-bee and realized it kind of sounds like doe-bee with an English accent.

I'm assuming I've been wrong all these years, I just hate the way dah-bee sounds. It reminds me too much of dobbers/daubers, the things you mark bingo cards with. But is that the correct pronunciation (correct meaning that's what Rowling intended it to be)? Could mine be right? Or is it something else?

I feel if it was meant to be pronounced doe-bee it would only have one B.

Dog-Bee

"g" is silent.

There lies his crown in water deep, till Durin wakes again from sleep.

Dobby rhymes with Bobby.

Like another poster said "Doe Be" would probably be spelled Doby or Dobie (like in Dobie Gillis).

You must never have seen the movies because it is pronounced Dah-be many times in the movies.

I don't know what they have to say. It makes no difference anyway. Whatever it is, I'm against it.

I did see the movies, it just still sounded like Doe-bee to me because of their accents lol.

I read it as Bobby but with a D at the beginning.
