barring complete disaster this should finally be northwestern's year
to make an ncaa tournament. they're currently 16-4 overall, tied for 3rd in the big ten at 5-2. they have no bad losses this season (4 losses are to butler, notre dame, Michigan st., and Minnesota). they have several wins over quality opponents (texas, wake forest, Dayton, iowa, and osu).
they should hit the 20 win threshold fairly easily. they have 11 games left.
winnable games on their schedule include
Nebraska
Illinois
Rutgers
Illinois
quality opponents remaining, and a chance to steal another big notch in their belt include:
Indiana
purdue
wiconsin
Maryland
indiana
Michigan
purdue
I think 4 more wins should seal the deal. that puts them at 20-11 on the season, 9-7 in conference. provided, I think, that 1 of those 4 wins comes off the quality opponents list.
add that, I think the committee would love the opportunity to finally give them a nod.
anyways, this might sounds crazy, but having seen this northwestern team play in person when they came here to lincoln, and having a ton of respect for their coach... I really don't see them stumbling to the finish line.
I think they're gonna cleanup on that cream puff list and probably steal at least 2 from the quality opponent list, probably have a solid seed in the big ten tourney, and maybe snag a 1st round win there too.
they look like about a 7/10 seed for the ncaa tourney from what I've seen.
pretty fun stuff! only power 5 conference team to have never played in an ncaa tournament.
I really like coach chris Collins. he has brought a lot of firsts to that program.
first 20 win season
looking at first back to back winning seasons
a slew of "first wins" against opponent x in the big ten in decades (the recent osu win for example)
he should get the honor of being the first to lead them to a tourney appearance.
Where did you get those clothes, the toilet store?
