Why do people think that Disney movies are just for kids?

I don't understand why. You are never too old for Disney movies. A lot of people at my college think that anything Disney is just for kids.

I personally have a hard time having any interest in the newer Disney films. Although people say Frozen, Tangled, Wreck It Ralph, Big Hero 6, and Zootopia are worth seeing, I have no interest in watching them. Maybe I've become a bit of a snob when it comes to animated movies. I still love Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid and I still enjoy The Lion King. Plus, Pinocchio is good and I love Sleeping Beauty for that matter.

I agree a lot of of the Disney animated movies can be enjoyed by all ages, even though a lot of their newer animated movies, and a lot of their live action movies they would have to watch with parental guidance.

People still have prejudices against cartoons/animated movies. 

My theory is as follows (and it goes for anyone criticizing not only Disney films but an entire medium of animation):
The people holding that opinion that animation is for children (and by children I mean anyone under the age of 11 or 12), killed their innerchild when they hit the age of 18. So, after that age they no longer recognize any work of imagination, creativity, soul, etc... as a pure frivolous waste of time.

Because they have never made an animated film above a PG rating, and probably never will.

And neither did DreamWorks, Illumination, Blue Sky, or Pixar.

Most people grow up with Disney and can remain one of the most nostalgic things in their lives. I don't see any reason to abandon Disney no matter how old you get.
