I loved the atmosphere and the chemistry between the characters. That was some high-quality crime/thriller/horror. The story involves the typical ordinary man that turns from terrorized puppy to insane Psychopath. It's tense, very sexual, bloody and has a unique feel to it that forgives the lack of originality in its formula. Plus, Megumi Kagurazaka looks stunningly ravishing. Just wow. Asian movies always have some great villains and this one was one of the best. I think it's a shame that the actor did not do any other good movies, or so it seems. Oh and honourable mention for one of the craziest chick in a movie ever! The villain's girl was SICK! I did not really expected/understood what happened in the final scene but all in all superb job from Sion Sono. Especially considering that this was inspired by true events. 7.8/10

I've seen it twice. It gives me such an insane feeling, I love it. It's on my Top 50. 9/10

It felt button-pushy and predictable to me, one of my least enjoyed Sonos. There was no fun in it. I gotta have some fun with my sickness, I think. I lump this one in with Into a Dream And Hazard as his Daddy-Issues films. Men are meek and get trampled or they're loud and controlling. No gray area. No nuance. Not interesting.

Except for 'high quality', 'superb job', I agree with everything else you say.

I think it's cool that you love it so much. I would've given it a better rating if not for the second hour that became a little bit redundant at times. The first hour was very good and the final 20 mins was great.
I went through your top 50 list and added a lot of stuff that seems awesome to my watchlist.
Ex: Survive style 5 The Isle, House and kamikaze girk looks crazy.
Ghost world, Harold and Maude, Hana-bi all look good.

Also, I have recently bought Ran, Fallen Angels and In a cyborg but that's Ok

I've seen a lot of them too. Gozu was strange and quite the experience. Visitor Q was sick and crazy funny. Ichi was great. The good bad weird and old boy both very good too.

I just finished watching it and I'm still dumbfounded. I have to say this one has reached Strange Circus level for me that it will automatically be included in my top whatever films of all time.

The crime/thriller/horror fusion was very much maximized in this movie. Add to that some out-of-place background music, a disturbing display of breasts and S&M, and a weird fetish for the human body (both delivered from the POV of a serial killer and a pervert), this one is just one of those movies that time and again makes me question the sanity of the director. lol.

The psychopaths(Murata and his wife)really brought the film together. This movie is sick, weird, and a masterpiece. I think I kinda got the ending and I'd even take one step farther by concluding that Aiko was really the daughter that Murata was talking about at the start of the film.

I agree on all your comments. 10/10 for me.
