Now this is an underrated gem! I don't know why it only has 6.8, but this had incredibly beautiful effects, and not only for its time either. It's fascinating visual storytelling, and a movie which will only be even better on second viewing.
shareI first saw it on TV around 1970. Raquel Welch made a deep (and lasting!) impression on my young mind. Particularly when the rest of the crew had to remove those platelets (or whatever they were) clinging to her skin-tight costume! *Sigh* A tough job - but somebody had to do it!

I doubt that: the white cell wouldn't have had time as the crew and the sub were on the point of returning to normal size.
It must have bothered Isaac Asimov too because in his novelisation the crew persuaded the white cell to follow them out of Benes' body.
Either way it's still a riveting yarn in the tiny genre marked "Non-stupid SF".

I can't believe how lucky you are! It must have been quite an experience seeing it for the first time in the theater.
