Interspecies relationships of human and aliens in Sci-fi movies

It is a staple in Sci-fi stories/books where humans romance alien beings. Oh, don't be so small-minded just be free minded. Dating out of your league is one thing, but wading out of your gene pool and into the arms of another species from another world—assuming they even have arms—now that's something special and unique.

Nothing wrong with interspecies romance as long as it's humanoid being, mutant being, creature being (like mythology) or alien being it worked for Eliza and Goliath in Gargoyles, April and Don in Ninja Turtles, Howard the Duck and Bev in the comics, Star Wars humans and aliens, Star Trek humans and aliens, Eric and Ariel in Little Mermaid, Madison and Tom Hanks in Splash, Betty Boop and Bimbo, Hepizah and Consair in X-Men comics/animated show, Charlene and Vinnie on Biker Mice, Minerva Mink and Rick Mayers Jr. in the fanfiction series Lifestyles with Minerva Mink (Rick is a human and Minerva is an anthro humanoid mink being which makes sense since both are mammals) Duckman who scored with different mammal anthro beings/different birds/even human ladies on the show, Batman and Cheetah on Justice League, Beast and Carley in X-Men TAS, Beauty and The Beast 80's show, Margaret's dad Frank Smith with Denise on Regular Show etc.

I believe in comics especially/fanfiction/sci-fi fantasy stories and books even Star Wars/animation/games/Sci-fi fantasy films etc. that a person
should have that right to love whoever they want to love as the artist or writer thinks so and i support it in interspecies romance even of humans with alien beings/humanoid beings/mutants etc.

As Prince Lir in Peter S Beagle's The Last Unicorn (Book and movie) once said when he found out the loveliest girl he ever laid eyes on and romanced known as Lady Amalthea is a humanized unicorn "Unicorn, mermaid, sorceress, vampire, gargoyle, centaur..no name you'd give her would surprise or frighten me, i love whom i love" which is one of my all time favorite quotes.

Know any films with this subject matter?

My picks:
Star Wars saga.
My Stepmother is an Alien.
Star Trek films.
Avatar.
The Fifth Element.
Superman movies.
Species.
Guardians of the Galaxy.
Alien Nation.
Starman.

Here's a few others:

Galaxy Quest
Earth Girls are Easy
Enemy Mine
The Man Who Fell to Earth

Nice ones.

Do you think human/alien romance is expressive?

"Unicorn, mermaid, vampire, sorceress! No name you'd give her would surprise me i love whom i love"

reply

It certainly can be. Like any romance, it largely depends on how it's written and handled. Romance can go wrong quite easily if something is a bit off, making it come out as funny. It's even more difficult when an alien is involved.

What about those examples i mentioned? and you agree with everything i said on interspecies romance with different beings and that Last Unicorn quote i mentioned by Prince Lir on what he said when he found out his true love is a humanized unicorn? afterall it is a human right to love whoever they want to love in Sci-fi/fantasy stories even Star Trek/Wars.

"Unicorn, mermaid, vampire, sorceress! No name you'd give her would surprise me i love whom i love"

I'd say it's a good plot device, if a bit overused. The difference between physical attributes is supposed to be overcome by love for each others' mental attributes, in this planet's love legends - though the writers do like to make sure both partners are stunning. But if you spend time interacting with somebody whose body appears to be a mass of spag bol with an eagle beak and two glowing ping-pong balls, and you genuinely enjoy their company? Why not? Even if one of your bodily secretions will melt the other person's genitalia, you can still enjoy spending time with them.

- What are you gonna do, when the world catches on?

And what do you think of the Prince Lir from Last Unicorn quote i mentioned?

"Unicorn, mermaid, vampire, sorceress! No name you'd give her would surprise me i love whom i love"

reply

Been at least a hundred years since I saw that; don't even remember the quote. Cute guy, but too masculine, for my tastes. Anyway, the quote definitely fits the situation. Mind you, he kinda did say that to a beautiful girl, not a horse with a horn...but in a classic love story, you gotta make room, right? In an opera or a Greco-Roman myth, he could've got away with the bestiality angle.

Yet i felt bad for Lir as he lost his true love and can't have her in full unicorn form as that would be beastality, but i wish the wizard would had turned her into an anthro unicorn Being and Lir would still love her as he would love a humanoid being but not a full unicorn being as she would had also not only saved his life with her horn on his wound but also passionately kiss him if she was ever turned into a humanoid anthro unicorn being instead of a full feral unicorn then Lir would had went back to her him with her and be happy.

What Lir means that is also 100% true in how you can't alter your feelings. If you love someone, you love them despite their appearance. Like say if a woman you love is really a female alien in human form yet she reveals herself to be a lovely scaled shapely lizard-like being or if your girlfriend was turned into a sexy humanoid feline being by a mad scientist and she is stuck that way, you still love the lady even within which is what is called soul-mates as you love her soul.
