Halloween III Season of the Witch (1982)

Much maglined but more appreciated Sci-fi horror thriller from producers John Carpenter and Debra Hill.

You see, Carpenter and Hill hated writing Halloween 2 and wanted to end Michael's story by having his eyes shot and have him burn to death, he and Hill had a concept to turn the franchise into an anthology of different Halloween themed horror stories in each standalone sequel with their own independent story with fresh ideas, new villains and all that ala Creepshow, Tales from the Crypt or Twilight Zone and this was the first and only one. It did bad at the box-office even critically but has gained a cult following over the years and now it has gotten more love for it's attempt to turn the franchise into an anthology.

How this movie a sci-fi movie? well it deals with the concept of witchcraft through technology and computers plus androids. A lovecraftian kind of thing of technology and witchcraft.

I have always liked this more than H2. This movie is a comedy and shouldn't be taken seriously.

The anthology idea was Carpenter's intention for the Halloween movies from the beginning - he only got pushed into doing a sequel because of the success of the first movie and the popularity of Michael.

I'm with you on Halloween III though. I always had a real soft spot for that movie. The robot guys were really creepy and freaked me out when I saw it as a kid, and I love the villain - a perfect mix of creepy and charming.

I can't help but think he never managed to stop the transmission. I wonder what the world would have been like the next day - perhaps ten million kids killed simultaneously? By magic, no less. It would change the whole of society for centuries afterwards. Maybe forever.

If I could stop a rapist from raping a child I would. That's the difference between me and god.

I'm sure not all the kids died as there were ones who weren't trendy

I saw it at a Halloween party in college. During the scene with the kid and his family, all the girls were "Eeeeewww groooss!" and the guys were all "Oh, COOL!!".

🎤Always remember to keep Ridin The Storm Out, people!🎸🌿

Carpenter is quite possibly my favourite director, but there are plenty of his films that I'd take over H3 any day.

I heard so many awful things about that film. When I finally saw it - I liked it! Yes, it's still worse than many other Halloween films but it's fun, entertaining

I want a sequel with cockran coming back and maybe finding out where his power comes from.
