This more realistic point of view about true love.

Trust me your friend will like it, as I said before the ending typicall Hollywood crowd pleasser but the plot was really original
There is no hero or Villian all the characters are human beings who make mistakes and have feelings.

Having thought much about your point of departure, I would be inclined to make the best prediction about a German movie, "Barfuss" (Barefoot) by Til Schweiger .

Although Nick belong to a millionaire family he had mismanaged so many previous jobs that the employment exchange dares only give him a jobs as a cleaning man in a mental hospital. But after just one hour he is thrown out. He had not watched his tools well, and a patient had drunk a bottle of soap. However, he had helped down a young woman (Leila) who had tried to hang herself in the ladies' bathroom. When he leaves she follows him. And the doorman who just pressed a button did not see whether one or two persons left. Nick does not detect Leila before she followed him into a pissoir.

Well, this is the start. There are scenes of humour, and scenes of "action". But basically it is a romantic love movie of a kind hardly made during the last 30 years.

One of the best romances of all times. Funny and sweet and brave and smart.

Wonderful dark comedy!
