Horror recommendations

Hi everyone I am wanting to reconnect with the horror genre. When I was growing up there were some fab movies that scared me. They are very fee and far between now. The last one that genuinely gave me goosebumps over my body was Sinister.
Can you recommend some good scary ones from the last 5 years that might get me back into the genre please.
Thanks, Dionne xx

The first one was very good. The second was ok.The Annabel spinoff was disappointing.Haven't seen the Nun spinoff yet but it looks good.

I was going to recommend two films directed by Neil Marshall, The Descent and Dog Soldiers, but then noticed your delimitation to films within the past 5 years. Be that as it may, if you’ve not seen them, have at. I don’t like most films categorized as horror. Today, they depend on stupidity, facility (as in “facile”) and shock value, and lack gravitas and depth. I despise torture porn. Having said that, you might enjoy No One Lives, with Luke Evans, an actor I rather like. It’s as much Action as it is anything, and it IS stupid (at one point, one character instructs another to “cut the arterial vein”), but it is also a few things that I value: inventive, unflinching and raw. ‘Happily you’ll like it.
