Anyone knows why most shows nowdays take 10 min to play their intros?

Shows used to have simple structure - short lead in teaser sequence to get you interested in watching the entire thing and then the show's intro credits sequence. Nowadays many shows air 10 full minutes of an episode before they play their show's intro sequences. Anyone knows why this is? I really don't get it. What's the upside of this? Why even bother playing the intro sequence after fifth of the show's running time has already passed?

I don't know the official answer, but it's likely linked to the reduction of the actual title sequence itself. I guess shows now need to show more of the episode/or the talent on screen to entice viewers. It's probably linked to how tv is consumed now.
