TV episodes incorporating a topical real-life news event

For example, the "Punky Brewster" series did an episode about the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster of 1986, which aired a few months after the disaster.

I read somewhere that one of the UK soaps did a tag scene about 9/11 (a few days after it happened or something like that).

Any other TV episodes incorporating a topical real life news event into an episode?

The Simpsons have done a few in flashbacks, and Family Guy has done some (usually spoofing them) in their cutaway gags. I can't think of a live-action show that has done one that was recent enough to count as current events. Shows like M*A*S*H, which were set in the middle of historic events, did refs like that.

Quite a few on Mad Men. Or do you mean happening just before or when the show was airing?

I meant news events that occurred shortly before the episode was produced (or an on-going news story that was going on during production).

I thought my OP (and the two examples cited) made that quite obvious. I guess my writing skills are still terrible.

Nah, it's my scanning skills that just pick up on key words.

Barney Miller did one about the NYC bankruptcy crisis, where the city was going to be forced to cut vital services due to a complete budget shortfall. It included the actual recording of Gerald Ford's 11th-hour speech promising that, although the government would not bail out the city, no critical personnel would be eliminated.

I think I've seen that episode.

I watched the first two seasons of "Barney Miller" some time ago, I should really watch the rest.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air did an episode about the LA Riots just months after they happened.

Third Watch which was all about first responders in New York city dealt pretty heavily with the aftermath of 9/11 and had one of the characters lose their father in the collapse.
