Mogambo

Ford isn't my favorite guy, largely because I don't care for his Westerns, so I've been trying to watch his many films in other genres. I liked this one. The nature photography was good (nice to see him using his camera skills on something other than the prairie). I also liked the cast, Gable is a legend and has more movie star screen presence than anyone, this was one of Kelly's better performances (I usually find her just okay), and Gardner is always good as the coquette. The scene where Gable "breaks the news" near the end of the movie was hilarious, and a sight gag with a leopard walking through Gardner's tent was both funny and suspenseful. I might've preferred a more melancholy ending, though. It's probably my second favorite Ford behind The Quiet Man, the only of his films I really, really like.
