Badhaai Ho: Ayushmann Khurrana Is Back with All Things Quirky

Ayushmann Khurrana. A singer, a poet, a VJ and the prince of all things quirky. Ever since his Bollywood debut, Ayushmann had a penchant for everything unconventional which is quite evident from his first film, Vicky Donor. The film had gone to win the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment at the 60th Film Awards. In the movie, he played the role of Vicky Arora, a young guy who donates his sperm for money.

He’s also starred in offbeat romantic comedies like Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Saavdaan. Now, the VJ-turned actor is back with a comedy drama, Badhaai Ho. The movie has already made waves during its teaser release with its unconventional content. The taboo attached with linking the concepts of parents and sex has been well portrayed in this Ayushmann Khurrana starrer. The ridicule faced by Nakul in front of his friends, family and extended relatives have been etched in a rib-tickling manner.

This is Ayushmann Khurrana had to say about his decision to star in Badhaai Ho, “"I think after 'Dum Lagake Haisha', this is the second time I have immediately said yes to a script without even thinking about it,” he added.

Apart from Ayushmann Khurrana who stars as Nakul Kaushik, the movie also stars Sanya Malhotra as Sweety Sharma, Gajraj Rao as Mr. Kaushik, Neena Gupta as Mrs. Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha as Sangeeta Sharma and Surekha Sikri as Dadi.

For his character as the Delhi-bred Nakul Kaushik, Ayushmann had to learn 3 dialects of Hindi. One a Meerut accent, one a Punjabi accent and third one is a neutral accent. This is what the actor said in a statement, “I consider myself as a linguist and I love learning accents from different parts of the country. Having travelled across the lengths and breadth of the nation, I love grasping different dialects."

Badhaai Ho would be presented by Junglee Pictures, in association with Chrome Pictures. Junglee Pictures have been bringing forth movies that are well lauded by critics and audiences alike. Junglee Pictures had released content-driven movies like Talvar, Raazi, Bareily Ki Barfi and Manmarziyan, in the past.

The movie, directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, is produced by Vineet Jain, Aleya Sen, Hemant Bhandari and Amit himself.
