The Disappointments Room: Kate Beckinsale’s Latest Is Based On True Events

Almost every horror movie involves an old mansion which has been abandoned for ages and female characters and kids who are affected by an apparition. Have you ever wondered why? Only Hollywood studio executives would know the answer. But while we search for the answer, it’s time to welcome another horror movie to the league of movies that will definitely spook you out.

The Disappointments Room is a psychological horror film that is directed by D.J. Caruso, which was co-written by D.J.Caruso and Wentworth Miller (of Prison Break fame). The movie is produced by Sam Englebardt, William D Johnson, Geyer Kosinski, Vincent Newman. The production designer for the movie is Tom Southwell while the costume designer is Marina Toy.

The movie stars English actress Kate Beckinsale and Mel Raido in lead roles of Dana Barrow and David Barrow respectively. The movie also stars Gerald McRaney as Judge Ernest R. Blacker, Lucas Till as Ben Philips Jr., Michael Landes as Teddy, Michaela Conlin as Jules, Celia Weston as Marti Morrinson, Ella Jones as Laura Blacker, Marcia DeRousse as Judith and Jennifer Leigh Mann as Mrs. Blacker.

The plot of the movie revolves around a couple, played by Kate Beckinsale and Mel Raido, leaving New York and settling in the suburbs along with their 5-year old son Lucas. They relocate because they need to start their life afresh after the accidental death of their infant daughter Catherine.

The mighty old house they choose to relocate has been abandoned ever since the death of the owners back in the 19th century. In the house Dana sees visions of a child been tortured by her father and his German Shepherd. The premise of the movie is based on a historical concept of locking up physically or mentally challenged children away from the public eye, either in the attic or in the basement.

The movie explores Dana’s fragile inner realm which gets deeply distorted by the hallucinations that haunt her. The movie is set to release in India during December 2018. Let the movie be more chilling that the drop in mercury.
