The Equalizer 2 is an upcoming thriller movie that has been directed by Antoine Fuqua. It’s a sequel to the 2014 movie titled The Equalizer and the film stars Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, Melissa Leo, and Bill Pullman amongst others in pivotal roles. The first movie in the franchise, The Equalizer was based on a TV show of the same name. The sequel was released in the U.S. on July 20, 2018, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
The movie follows the story of an ex-mariner and an ex-DIA agent of The U.S.A, Robert McCall (portrayed by Denzel Washington) who sets out to seek revenge after one of his closest friends is murdered. Robert McCall with the help of his friend Susan Plummer (Melissa Leo) tries to help the less fortunate and help them seek justice against any and every injustice and exploitation caused to them. However, one day Susan (who works for DIA) and Dave York (portrayed by Pedro Pascal who is also McCall’s former teammate) are called to investigate a murder that has been made to look like a suicide. During the investigation, Susan is murdered. An enraged McCall swears to bring justice to her and vows to find out those behind the murder. Suspecting foul play, he is convinced that Susan’s assailants have a connection to the case she was investigating. Will he be able to find out who killed Susan? The official trailer for The Equalizer 2 was released 4 months ago and was well-received by fans and has over 6.3M views on YouTube and counting. The trailer aims to leave several unanswered questions in the minds of the viewers and does so successfully. The trailer successfully portrays the thriller element of the film leaving viewers with one question, “Who killed Susan?” Through the trailer, it’s quite evident that the movie runs high on fight sequences and unlimited thrills.
Seven months before the release of the first Equalizer, it was announced that Sony Pictures and Escape Pictures were planning a sequel of the action-thriller. Principal photography for the film begins in September 2017. The shooting began in Boston and the film has been shot on the Lynn Shore Drive in Massachusetts as well in Brant Rock.
