Is the current star wars worth watching?

I haven't been to a movie theater in several years. I have some time to kill this week, but is it worth watching? What I don't want is some epic with a vast back story and walking out of the theater frustrated. That's happened to me with Harry Potter and Star Trek when I was forced to see them about a decade ago, I had no clue what the movie was about. Something about a fire at a country house and a subway train roaring by, some kid with a suspended license flies a spaceship. I'm not from the USA so I don't know your pop culture traditions which seem as complicated as the Koran.

Yea it's worth watching. You don't need to know anything from any of the other movies, it's a self contained story. It does have connections to the other films, that will help you more appreciate some of the details of this one, such as certain cameos or references, but seeing anything beyond this film isn't essential to understanding what's going on. It's a good one.

Did you see it? I'm a star wars fan, grew up on the original trilogy. Was disappointed in episodes 1-3 and really enjoyed the force awakens. Checked out rogue one...was really digging it but then fell asleep. Woke up to catch the end. I never fall asleep during movies. So either I was super tired or the magic just wasn't there for me. Havent really been overly motivated to spend the time to try and check it out again.
