Why did these A-list stars and/or one time up and comers fall off in the first place?

Of course, some of these actors are still working but they aren't any where close to where they were during their "glory days" as bankable stars or when they were hyped as the next big thing. Some's fall from grace may be more obvious than others (drugs, egos, ageism, too many box office bombs in a row, Harvey Weinstein), but it still worth the discussion for why some actors' relevancy in Hollywood and impact last while others ultimately fade. If you have been following the currently in limbo "What the Hell Happened to..." series on Lebeau's Le Blog, then you'll know what I'm talking about:

I think it comes down to the fact that people are only really going to see the really big movies theses days. Like 50 million plus budgets, and studios dnt wanna risk that on a kinda famous or even really famous actor who dosent have a broad appeal. So now all these really great actor are in low budget (sometimes great sometimes shit) films. And eventully fall out of public view.

I just started a page that will hopefully go into detail about the rise and fall of various A-list actors and directors.

I think this is mostly what is happening we are more into the franchise era where the franchise and its characters are the stars.

For that yes new movie stars appear and some old stars reappear but only as long as the franchise is going on because right now Movie goers love an actor or actress as long as they are portraying a beloved character from a movie franchise which is based in a YA novel or on a comic book.

People can criticize fast and furious all they want but let’s give it credit where it’s due and that is creating a franchise from scratch from pure imagination of the screen writers.

It’s the only franchise right now that’s it’s not based on anything which already existed.

It’s not my favorite, my favorites are the MCU, Bond and Mission Impossible. Now I do like Fast and furious but I prefer other franchises over that.

Yes, I miss a bit the movie star system but I like the franchise system as well very it has its own charm and the only times the I miss the movie star system is when it comes to award shows come up but other than that I’m okay with the franchises and movie characters system.

For some reason I couldn't open your links, but I do have some opinions about faded "stars" who we thought were going to be "the next big thing" as well as "stars" who were on the radar for a good amount of years then *poof* vanished.

Let's start with the latter:

- Joseph Gordon-Levitt: This guy really had a stream of diverse movies covering almost every genre and getting both commercial and critical acclaim and then it seems he's disappeared since 2016.
- Bradley Cooper: He's still a household name and very recognizable but to me it's more glaring that he's not been in a leading role in a while (over a year).
- Colin Farrell: One of my favorite actors whom I always thought would carry the torch but it appears he's retreated into small independent movies and has let Ryan Gosling carry the flame.
- Shia Lebeouf: No mystery there
- Emma Stone: Vanished
- Shaylene Woodley: Vanished
- Jennifer Lawrence: Kinda faded but mostly by her own doing and film choices that have allowed social media and audiences to dismiss her as a flash in the pan instead of an actor honing their craft

The Former -
- Miles Teller: Seemed to be everywhere the last 3 years but hasn't sprouted any bigger
- Soarse Ronin: Always highly praised by critics but doesn't really have a box office champ behind her
- Seth Rogen: Thank God he's vanished for the most part. I'll take Jonah Hill over him any day
- Carey Mulligan: She still makes movies but her high profile in Hollywood never caught on. She's a good actress but I don't thin the general movie going audiences see her in the same light as Jolie or Lawrence or even Weizc
