An Occasional Hell (1996).

Anyone seen this film and what did you think of it?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117226/

Personally, if you ask me, I have indeed seen it, yes, but I found it overall to be dull and a major disappointment, and sadly enough, not even a guilty pleasure or decent even by often mediocre direct to video and made for TV movie standards, and I actually HAVE seen SOME at least films that were better or even MUCH better from these rather lacklustre movie categories that we aren't meant to generally expect much from.

Featuring a particularly dull and uninspired performance by Tom Berenger, glaring and obvious continuity errors (most notably the red Ford Taurus car changing its colour and model in one scene), lack of suspense and often any common sense, poor writing and lifeless pedestrian direction and an anti-climatic ending that doesn't tie anything in ways that are believable or even interesting, its a movie overall that even many bad movie aficionados will find difficult to like and stay awake through.

Around a 3/10 at best and barely so is what I will give it, "an occasional misfire" would perhaps be a more appropriate title, don't bother with it unless you're in need of a cure for insomnia and not even the brief flashes of nudity and violence will likely keep you awake.

It has a 4.9 rating on IMDB, so yes, a stinker.

Well, I myself have seen and enjoyed, sometimes even greatly, films with a 3.0 ratings and below, and yes I love Ed Wood's "Plan 9 From Outer Space" (1959) just to give one example too, so I don't always look at ratings in order to appreciate or not certain films...

But I have indeed seen this one and recently watched it again online and yes, its sadly a major disappointment any way you look at it.

And like I say, I've seen some films even from similar genre categories and direct to video locations that were better and more satisfying than this.

I've seen Plan 9 and it is funny. It used to be referred to as "the worst movie of all time" until Tommy Wiseau's The Room wrestled that title away from it. Both are classics.

Never cared much for The Room though, but Plan 9 is very good, yes. Even if in a so bad its good sort of way.

Precisely.
