New movies are better than older movies (pre 1970)

People have been spoiled. Dramatic movies today are often far more sophisticated and complex than "classic" black and white film. Example: if Casablanca was made today, it would be a mediocre bore. People would be talking about whether that or La La Land was a better romance movie. Sure we can respect them for being revolutionary for their time but technical praise aside, alot of them are boring crap and actually fairly shallow. Yea original for their time but so what? I judge art for what it portrays, not how awesome it was for people at the time. Thats nothing more than historical praise.

Take Hitchcock for example. I mean seriously? Imagine Strangers on a Train today - a laughable movie. Girl on the Train (crap movie) would get better reviews and ratings.

12 Angry Men is just one of many examples that prove you wrong.

reply

No, i like 12 Angry Man but the fact that its so unique and different from most old crap proves my point.

99% of movies made after 1980 SUCK.

A vast majority of the movies made before are either great or good.

reply

Of course they are. Jake Gyllenhaal is in many newer movies, but no older movies.

Jake Gyllenhaal is the best Gyllenhaal.
