Why are a lot of posters on here delusional?

So many people on here are like, imdb is so self destructive! They are going to lose so much money when they close the boards!

Once again, only a tiny fraction of users use the message boards! What's so difficult to understand about that!? There is no hidden reason behind the closing of the boards, no amazon no nothing. It's simply because it has become a place full of negativity and they are finally tired of it.

If you truly believe that the tiny group of posters that you are a part of have so much influence and you think you can change their minds by petitions etc. you have delusion of grandeur.

I admire them for fighting. I admire their can-do spirit and an unwillingness to just accept the status quo.

Maybe you shoud read the comments on facebook, the amount of people that is telling they used to read the comments after watching a movie, they rarely post, but they find the message boards very useful, and they think that is what makes IMDb unique.

The petition that you dismiss, reached 9.238 signatures.
Don´t come to me with: "Compare to... that means nothing".

Almost 10.000 people asking you not to do something, is a voice you should listen to.

And about being delusional... it´s just your opinion.

IMDB must be well aware of exactly how many lurker and how much time they spend on a message board and have all those stats.

The petition that you dismiss, reached 9.238 signatures.

It is more a sign that IMDB is right thought, no, even if you give 100 people for every people that signed, that would still be less than half of the percent of IMDB business.

And IMDB business is probably rounded to nothing in Amazon 125+ billion annual revenue business (they do not even mention IMDB in their annual report, imagine the message board part of it...)

What these very vocal protesters fail to realize is that THEY are the reason why the boards are being shut down.

Heaven forbid anyone should disagree with one of them or have different opinions. A barrage of insults and negativity then follows every one of them and IMDb has finally had enough of it and shut them down.

There's a huge difference between debate and flat out being a troll and we all know how trolls react when they have no platform to vent on...
