Period European Movie (possibly PBS or BBC production)

Hello,

I've been trying to remember the name of a TV movie (possibly a series) about 17th or 18th Century Northern Europe. It would have been on TV between 1978 and 1982 but it could be an older film or TV series. I can't remember the plot but it did involve perspective from a young boy who was possibly an aristocrat in France, Germany, or Spain. They wore those regal attires with white powdered wigs but the only thing I can remember was the boy being whipped with twine as part of his disciplinary upbringing not so much because he was being subversive to his elders. The whipping seem to involve both his rear end and the top of his hands. The only other movie similar to this would be Barry Lyndon when he was punishing his stepson but I know this wasn't the same movie.

It might be The Prince and the Pauper (1976), although that story took place in England:

There was also the PBS series "Once Upon a Classic" that ran a version of this tale:

Thanks for the information.

I'll look up both and see if they match

After looking these up they're not the same series.

I remember the movie having a very somber tone to it and it made feel scared for the young boy even though he was part of the upper wealthy class.

It's a bit later than you specified though.

Interesting but not it. This one even has a different and more playful tone. THanks for trying
