Episode: Computer game players kill each other as part of organised game

Can anybody tell me what show this was? I caught the tail end of an episode of some detective drama. The plot was that 2 guys had organised a real life death match between skilled computer game players, somehow getting quite a few interested parties with nobody going public, taking place in the city at large. The plot points I remember.

The winner is a woman. Instead of paying her out the 2 organisers tie a heavy weight to her and throw her off the edge of something, (can't remember what), killing her.

One player gets scared and no longer wants to play. There's no opt-out clause so instead he hides on buses 24/7 as buses are "safe zones" where you can't be killed, (which the other competitors do respect)

The show was one I'd never heard of before and don't remember encountering since. It was definitely a 1 word surname, like Monk or Taggart or Castle, not like Rizzoli & Isles or Barney Miller or Sherlock. I don't know who the title character was within the show.

The premise of the episode intrigued me and I thought I'd look out for the show, then I didn't bother and completely forgot the name.
