It has some sci-fi visual elements, yes.
I for one really LOVED this movie. It was excellent.

It was renewed for season 2 so enough people cared. But it is a weird show.
The showrunner wanted 1 more final season, that would have dealt with Adam's cancer. But the show was cancelled so they did not get to do it.
