Even actor and actresses of the past who played very similar roles were very distinct in their personalities. Look at Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, etc for an example. All were typecast as rugged tough, individualists, but each one had a very different personality from the rest. Same with actresses like Raquel Welch, Ann-Margret, and Angie Dickinson. All played sexy '70s bombshells, but definitely not in a cookie-cutter mold. Sounds like my description of the sniper hit a raw nerve with you, huh? Caitlin Jenner, Mariska Hargitay and Brooke Shields. Aside from both of them being evil, and responsible for the deaths of children, I don't see the connection. Different MOs, different mentalities, different everything. Fish looked like a little old man and Jones looked like Elvis Presley. I doubt a thousand people would have done anything at all that Fish told them to, let alone drink poison. What similarities do you see? Glad you like it! LOL. Sounds like I am going to babysit them. Yes, almost everyone in Hollywood is bland and interchangeable today compared to the actors of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Same with Craig Wasson, perhaps to an even greater extent of blandness. They should fuse into one greater entity: "Dermot McDermott". From what I have been learning in this thread, life's too short for that much of Children of the Corn. Very helpful indeed! I really appreciate this in-depth assessment. It's going to save me a lot of time. I am pretty curious now about the corn kid prophet in part 2. Sounds like a hoot! The two Dermots. Dylan McDermott and Dermot Mulroney. No problem, but I'm sad I won't be seeing Lemmy in any Children of the Corn movies. :( There is more true horror in a can of creamed corn than in all 11 of these movies put together. You had me going there. I was hoping to see Lemmy in one of the CotC movies. I started watching the first movie last night and I can confirm that it is both corny and flaky. Maybe if they were all hamster people and bunny people, but hyenas and cheetahs and other predators? No thanks. I did feel sorry for that little baboon guy at the end, holding Thewlis's hand and crying because he didn't want him to go. Very touching. Just came here to post the same thing. I was certain Perlman was the Hyena. He was Azazello, a major antagonist. The humanimal with dreadlocks and a tuxedo who executed the cheetah man and killed Montgomery and hanged Aissa. I kind of figured they would be mostly bad. Maybe I will just see the original then.
