a truly astoundingly well crafted first episode

in retrospect how they presented and constructed episode 1 was genius. The art style reminds we of early 2000s Saturday morning cartoons. and the initial fights are setup to be PG/pg13. this lulled the audience into a sense of false security that this would just be your average generic superhero story. and this was compounded when it was a ripoff of the justice league. it was the ultimate twist/reveal/ subverting expectations done right IMO.

I don't like watching freshmen TV shows because I hate waiting for the 2nd season and sometimes it gets canceled and that will make me cry all day. WAAAAAAAAAAAH

But, someone talked me into this show.

Loved it. I hope they don't wait 2 years for season 2. :)

I half heartedly watched the first episode. having seen lots of anime/cartoons it seemed generic. it did that on purpose and once it got to the guardians scene at the end I was hooked

YEP.

I'll probably wait a few months until the announce S2 and watch it again.

First episode was great and really hooked you in.

But then it became the standard non-twist twist. Building the whole thing up to find out why Omni-Man killed them all.

Seemed like a fairly obvious answer.

Great cast though.

The art is almost exactly the same as the comic, which i couldn't recommend strongly enough. Simply amazing, and collected in 3 huge and affordable compendiums.

I agree, it's a brave and confident move to allow the episode to be mainly exposition before *POW* hitting you in the guts. I think humanising the Guardians and their noble motives made the ending even more shocking.
