Closest thing to reading a comic-book.

I’ve seen a list of complaints about a lack of originality, but I find the show hedging close to the source material pretty comforting.

The show doesn’t get bogged down in explaining the origins of everything or rooting everything in some type of realism - it just hopes the audience will understand it’s based on a comic-book and be willing roll with it.

I was really pleasantly surprised that the show manages to be “adult” without taking itself so seriously.

The comics unveil origins and history throughout, it wasn't a big dump in the beginning. I love the series and the comics, but the show feels so fast paced compared to the measured approach of the comics.

I mostly mean that it was cool that the show didn’t try to ground itself in reality. I didn’t read the comics, bu the show really felt like it captures the spirit of what it is like to read a comic book.

I hope this leads to more faithful animated series of fan favorite comic runs. It's usually been limited to just short movies like Batman Year One, All-Star Superman or Planet Hulk that still have to cut out a lot of details so its cool to see them going for it here.

Right? This was terrific.
