title makes no sense

"The Garfield Movie".

Are the filmmakers somehow unaware there are ALREADY TWO PREVIOUS Garfield movies, the first of which was ALREADY named "Garfield: The Movie"?

They can't even use the excuse "well, that one was not a theatrical film" or "that wasn't feature length so it doesn't really count", or even "well that film was unrelated to the comic strip character" this is the THIRD theatrical feature film with a CGI talking "Garfield" that IS based on the comic book character of the same. If they had flipped the words around a bit, the title still wouldn't make sense, but at least "Garfield: The Movie" (2024) would convey the fact this is a remake.

It would be like naming the next Transformers film "The Transformers Movie"

The fact that this was made at all makes no sense.

Good point. No one was saying "You know that 2004 CGI adaptation of 1980s comic strip character? Well, we could definitely use a remake..."

reply

should call it garfield at large, like the novel
