White Lead! Outdated and bad taste.

Sugar (2024) Private investigator John Sugar, Colin Farrell, examines the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the granddaughter of a legendary Hollywood producer.
This show feature a white lead that loves dogs, helps the homeless, dont take advantage of drunk women and is an all around great guy. This is completely trash.
John Sugar should have been played by a black or Jewish actor.

Watch, award-winning Jewish actor, Eugene Levy in The Reluctant Zionist Traveler With Eugene Levy as he tours the world's most beautiful and intriguing destinations like Israel, instead.
Or The Changeling, set in an alternate New York City, a black father and husband searches through a magical world ful of hatred for his abducted son and missing wife, kidnapped by white people.

Colin Farrell’s ‘Sugar’ Is a Clumsy, Cliché "L.A. Noir" The eponymous crime drama “Sugar,” seems like too much a collection of noir clichés and white male fantasies to be a plausible protagonist. “Sugar” is far more overt and less creative in incorporating its influences as most white males. This show also reflects on that white men drink a lot.

A redeeming quality is that the shows bad guy is a white man WASP who threatens minorities and children.

I would love for Colin to stay on as a producer but hand his part off to an Asian actor.

This show also paints a very unrealistic picture of LA. Maybe LA in the 80 but not in 2024. No private eye can afford the $ 2000 a night bungalow at Del Corazon hotel / Hotel Bel-Air.

At least he is gay...:D
Remember that deep and a little bit sad look between two men in the bar in episode 1...!
And his obvious unwillingness to sleep with the lady...

I saw that!! A very strange sequence. He might reveal to be a homosexual into Asian men. Hunting in bars to get his kicks.

If John Sugar is gay this show just went from bad taste to hyper modern. John Sugar know what other mens sugar taste like. If he is gay I want the show to focus on that and less on the murder, missing girl, mystery.
But why cast a straight man as gay with so many gay actors around?

reply

Did they explore his homosexuality in episode 3?
