I am all in favor of good roles for BIPOC/LBGTQ+ actors, but how F’ing LAZY and performative is it to just “reboot” the 100th movie/series/whatever apparently for the SOLE purpose of race or gender swapping the lead roles??? It actually demonstrates that you DON’T CARE enough to put in the effort to create a new vehicle with diverse roles. It’s supposed to be creative industry! F’ing CREATE something!!!! shareRemake of a bad TV show. Don't think that really counts. With very few exceptions, I dis-like and find pretty much all re-makes lazy at best. But for many recent ones, there appears to be even less reason to do it other than to race or gender swap. Spend the time and money to develop an *original* project with a diverse cast. Anything less is, I'm sorry, performative. As has been mentioned earlier, there are a LOT of great scripts languishing out there.
