Dakota Johnson

Hard to picture her as Anne Elliot but I've been wrong before about prejudging Americans in quintessential British roles so I guess I'll have to see first.
But this is my favourite Jane Austen book and Dakota Johnson's predecessors in this role include Sally Hawkins and Amanda Root so that's a pretty big hill to climb.

She wasn't bad as an actress and, if given, a more classic script I think she would have killed it. I was not a fan of her portrayal as Anne but that's me basing it off the two other movies. I've never read the book but know anne is a completely different character than what they gave us in this film.

I liked it. There were liberties taken with the story and a hefty dose of modern sensibilities but I thought it was fun.
