I wish they had never made the sequels.

I guess it's not uncommon for a popular comedy to run itself into the ground with money-grabbing sequels. But I feel like this movie could have been a lot more iconic if they had just stopped at one. It was such a great concept, great characters...there was no need to repeat it 2 more times. (I say repeat, because they put very little effort into switching up the formula, at least in the second movie. I didn't even bother with the third.. but heard that it wasn't any better.)

Not to mention sequels and remakes are dominating Hollywood right now, and original ideas (for comedies, especially) are few and far between. Some of the classics don't need to be continued or remade.

That's the problem though, once an original film (like this one) becomes a huge hit a sequel is inevitable because the first once did so well. I wish they never made the sequels either.

I'm writing this signature in bold so people know it's a signature

Once the original is made, it is not for the audience anymore, it is for the production execs and the investors. All that those movies become are stocks in a stock market. They lower the budgets and see how many fans will come to double revenue on that small budget = mass profits.

Reminder: The O.C. resets to its first episode on POP network April 1 @ 2 p.m. EST

So what if they are not original, they are just as fun to watch.

I agree. The sequels weren't funny and seemed only made for profit. I find the first the most rewatchable.

same here. part 2 is basically the first one just in bangkok, and ive honestly never seen three but i heard a lot of bad things about it. I like the first one because the story was interesting. we have all done the vegas trip with our guys, got drunk, partied hard, been hungover...it was relatable.

The second one was basically a remake of the first, the jokes, story beats etc. were exactly the same, the less said about the third the better.

Should have been a one and done.
