Humanoid alien females

Does anyone beside me think it strange that ALL the humanoid females appear to nurse their young in the mammalian manner? And with a single pair of (large) breasts? Strange that evolution of so many different species has so remarkably paralleled our own in this manner (even the ones that appear to have reptilian scales)!

reply

Travis saw a species with three breasts.

Because most humanoids are seeded from the same race (the preservers) according to trek lore.

It saves cost, obviously.

Farscape went to great lengths in order to make other races look unhuman.

The more you try that, the more expensive it is to do so, though.

How should alien females suckle their young?

I have no problem with this.

It does seem kinda dumb, considering that, if different alien races evolved from various different animals on their worlds, the last thing you'd expect to see is every single one having females that could do that.

A real-world explanation is that it's cheaper to have humanoid aliens rather than put some real effort into making them less human. That, and someone was being really lazy on writing about parenthood on other worlds.
