Above Average

Very entertaining Italian Western here directed by Giulio Petroni, who also did Death Rides a Horse (1967) starring the great character actor Luke Askew and genre regular Luigi Pistilli. This one is a bit above the norm with a great story that follows our hero from rock bottom back to gun slinger status with lots of interesting flashback sequences.

As far as I know this is the only film Askew has ever been in where he was the starring main character. Fantastic Riz Ortolani score that shares some similarities with his music in Cannibal Holocaust during many of the tension building moments.

The poster is curiously similar to the one for Deodato’s Cyclone (1978). Definitely recommend this one for all fans of the genre.
