more underwater horrors

Hi everyone,

I think this movie is pretty darn awesome and I would like to know if anyone has any recommendations for more of this underwater type horror. something along the lines of
Bioshock
Leviathan
Abyss
Deep Rising

you see where I'm going :D

Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.

I'm looking for exactly the same. Please let me know if you find anything good :)

It has its moments but was alittle cheesy:-)

Still, it was an enjoyable movie

My recommendation, Deep Blue Sea. That was another enjoyable A- movie

Is Deep Blue Sea really worth seeking out? I've heard it was nonsense, but from people who'd probably hate Deep Star Six too (which I loved)!

I love what I call "straight to video Alien ripoffs"... Within The Rock, Deep Star Six, Leviathan, The Terror Within, etc. so would I enjoy Deep Blue Sea?

reply

It is labelled as B grade fiction movie but I enjoyed it tremendously. It has its moments and best of all, the cgi was par excellence.

So go watch it with a big tube of popcorn.

reply

I am a big fan of Deep Blue Sea and Within the Rock. I would recommend Deep Blue Sea but it does have bad CGI

Deep Blue Sea is really good entertainment! It's nothing new and the story is the same old tale... but it's execution is pretty good and it has a great score.

Other picks:

Below (produced by Darren Aronofsky!)
Virus (main actor Jamie lee Curtis claims this to be the worst film of all time)

reply

I love VIRUS! It's a bada-ss movie with gore, Donald Sutherland and Jamie Lee Curtis.

and arthouse. A film is a goddam film."

Plus Virus rips off the Borg a LOT.

Roger CormanĀ“s "Lords of the Deep"

you can watch it on youtube!!!

reply

try 'sphere'

i really liked that movie, despite its ratings - it has some good actors/actresses too

Sphere is a good underwater sci-fi movie, but its more of a psychological thriller than a sci-fi horror movie, which, by the way, most of the above-mentioned films are.
I would like to recommend The Rift, if you enjoy cheesy sci-fi underwater horror with cool monsters and underrated scenes that stick with you through the years. I still like to watch it now and again.

This movie always makes me think of Galaxy of Terror to that extent, a cult classic with that crazy Rob Zombie playing one of the extras and it has one of the weirdest alien attack scenes in sci-fi history (those of you who have seen it know what I am referring to: the alien slug-thingie raping that astronaut girl!).
It is also another recommendation to watch, although Galaxy of Terror is set in space, of course. ;)

reply

Well, it's more ON the water than in it, but a friend of mine showed me this schlocky 80s movie called "The Intruder Within" that you might like. It's trying to be Alien on an oil rig.

I think someone put it on youtube, so you can check it out there.
