Does anyone know exactly what Warhol did if anything?

I have heard everything from Andy Warhol co-produced the movie and put up some money toward it to Andy Warhol did nothing at all other than allow the distribution company to use his name in the marketing as a favor to Paul Morrissey. I do know that this movie was made AFTER both Morrissey and Joe Dallesandro were no longer actively working with Warhol.

Does anyone know if Warhol had any involvement in the production of this (and Dracula) other than lending his name to the titles?

I just came here to ask the same question!

Probably just shameless marketing.

That is incorrect. Following this movie they collaborated on the film BLOOD FOR DRACULA and then Warhol produced Morrissey's Broadway musical THE MAN IN THE MOON (starring FRANKENSTEIN's Monique Van Vooren). Warhol & Morrissey parted ways after that, in 1975, though they still co-owned property in Montauk, and Morrissey continued to occasionally contribute to "Andy Warhol's Interview" (e.g., his interview w/Pat Ast appeared in the Oct. '78 issue).

While Paul Morrissey didn't go into detail on this subject on the DVD commentary, from what I gathered I think the latter is closer to the truth. He mentions being approached to do the film and discussing the budget with Andrew Braunsberg and Carlo Ponti, with nary a mention of Warhol in this context. He briefly mentions something about Warhol's name being used for marquee value, but doesn't get specific about Andy's involvement, if any. And it's quite clear that Warhol had absolutely nothing to do with the writing and production of the film.

Another interesting thing he mentions is that Joe Dallesandro was cast to provide "name value" for the release in Germany, where Morrissey's previous films "Trash", "Flesh", and "Heat" were quite successful, and NOT to sell the film in the United States, as others on this message board have speculated.

According to a passing statement in the 1996 laserdisc/Criterion DVD commentary, Warhol had nothing to do with either Flesh For Frankenstein or Blood For Dracula.

I'm not sure there is a clear answer to "Does anyone know exactly what Warhol did if anything?".
After preying on the weak minded pop art world in the 60's and then riding that success till the day he died, all he really did ... was be weird.
