Karen Carpenter - "My Body Keeps Changing My Mind."

I think this was really well done and could have been a huge hit!

That song title is utterly ironic given what happened to the person singing it. :(

True... unfortunately. 😥 She was so talented...gone way too soon. My all-time favorite female singer.

I was trying to think of the less well known ones. Their ‘Hot Space’ album was poorly received and contained another ‘funky’ minor hit ‘Body Language’: -

The direction of the "Hot Space" album at that time was a truly bizarre desicion on their part. I guess they were thinking they could capitalize on the sucess of "....Bites the Dust", but somehow failed to realize the Disco gravy train had derailed by then.

I blame cocaine. Yep!

I saw them in 1982 and the rock crowd booed them when they did their funky stuff.

This is the song that brought John Lennon out of retirement. Apparently, he heard this song everywhere when it was released and basically rolled up his sleeves and thought, ‘Right then, I’d better go and write some hits.’ Double Fantasy was the result (Anecdote Andy).

I remember him mentioning that he liked "Coming Up" in the Playboy interview, but I think he said it was hearing the B-52's (specifically "Rock Lobster", IIRC) that inspired him to get back in the studio to make another album.

In the 1970s, Ex Beatle Paul McCartney started a band called Wings.

I don't know if you can consider Wings a rock band. They had some pretty rocking tracks ("Junior's Farm") - but probably trended more towards "pop". Anyway, they certainly were not a disco band. Paul McCartney was big on trends. He was always very aware of what was going on in music. In 1976, Wings cut this #1 track.....

Big disco sound. In 1977-78, disco went crazy. It started to fade in late 1979. Wings released one more track, in 1979, that had a disco flavor.....
