No matter how good you think you are.......

At changing flat tires you should belong to AAA. Was out a about in the middle of nowhere and had a flat tire. I thought no problem because I had a good spare tire. Well I did everything I could possibly do to get the lug-nuts off. They would not budge. Called AAA and about 40 minutes later he arrived. A guy about 6'2" and 220 pounds with all the right tools could barely get them off. I thought he was going to break the studs. But he got the tire changed. I was going to get new tires in September so this just prompted me to get them now. Took them to a garage and watched them put new tires on. On one tire the guy tried and tried to get the tire off. Hitting it repeatedly on the inside with a slug-hammer. Finally another guy came over to help. Even he had a heck of a time getting it off. Can you imaging being on a back road and having that tire go flat. How many people carry a slug-hammer around with them?

I don't go anywhere without a ten-pound hammer; you never know when you might spot a bicyclist.

Rillytho: The problem is the monkeys who work in the tire shops and use an air wrench for EVERYTHING. I always tell them to HAND-TORQUE the lugs, so they don't screw 'em down so tight. The last time I forgot to request hand-torqueing, the jackasses cross-threaded three of my lugs and bent the brake disk.

- What are you gonna do, when the world catches on?

I rotated the tires on my truck at home and it was a good thing I did because I needed to use the spare tire to do this rotation and I could not get the damn spare from the bottom of my Ford Ranger. So I ended up looking on google to see how to get the tire off and there was a video how to do it. You take this rod and insert it into a hole in back of the truck and turn it and it lowers the spare. I never would have guessed.
