OT

Just a Reminder to say a Prayer for all the fine men who stormed the Normandy Beach Heads today. Many, many men died, but they turned the tide in the European Theatre...putting the end in sight.

Also, don't forget to raise a glass to THEODORE ROOSEVELT, JR. Son of a President. He was middle-aged, and in questionable health, but he was his father's son...(Remember TR, Sr. and the Charge up San Juan Hill?) Ted, Jr. led his men in the Normandy Invasion, and died of a Heart Attack about a month later.

They don't make 'em like that, any more.🇺🇸🇫🇷

God Bless "THE GREATEST GENERATION". You are not Forgotten!

Just thinking about IMDb people who were involved in the Normandy campaign; Charles Durning didn't arrive until June 15th, according to his trivia page, but he was involved in the invasion.

Anybody know right offhand if any IMDb 'names' hit the beaches on June 6th? Not just Americans; any Allied nation.

Not sure about any Hollywood types but I had 3 great uncles at D-Day. Two in the RAF and one on the ground. Plus 4 more, RAF and RCAF were there in the following days.

Both Grandfathers in WW Two as officers with an even ten uncles etc in WW2 action. 2 in the RCN, 3 in the RCAF, 2 in RAF, 2 in Canadian Tank outfits and I in the Infantry. Two of them, RCAF, Lancaster crewmen, never came back. One tanker was captured in Italy. Large farm families from the Canadian prairies.
