I was wrong! One actually can change ones sex.

Change sex is probably the wrong way to put it, since it's really just a case of doctors assigning the wrong sex at birth.

See, we have improved our understanding of sex so much in recent years, the way it was defined during my early years is no longer relevant. Sex is a spectrum, not tied to a person's chromosomes or reproductive system.

Therefore, nothing should stop someone from identifying as the sex they feel best fits who they are.

Apologies to anyone I may have hurt with transphobic comments in the past due to ignorance.

reply

Oh my God do you people not get sick of this topic? I mean I know you’re being all clever and facetious, but why is it that we see hundreds of posts complaining about societal pressure to accept different sexual identities but NOT A SINGLE post from this supposedly militant horde demanding acceptance?

Almost as if everyone is complaining about…. NOTHING!

reply

I'm not being facetious. This is what I was told when I was dogpiled on another site for saying that if sex is biological, then it can't be changed. I've come across many people pointing out that sex is on a spectrum and that a person's sex is what they identify it as.

I thought I should look into things more deeply after making what I thought was an obvious, straightforward comment got such a reaction.

The people attacking and downvoting me didn't seem to think it was nothing! They were very angry with me for uttering my misguided opinion.

reply

Its the same for all the topics brought up by people who say:

"I'm a straight talking no nonsense man . I call a spade a spade , I dont get offended , cant say anything these days . These modern millennial snowflakes are offended all the time"

reply

Yeah, I don't know where these right wingers get the idea they will be attacked as bigots and Nazis and in many cases people are having their livelihoods threatened for having the "wrong" opinions on these issues. Playing the victim again, of course. I've only have two people come after me in this forum, but they didn't stop me from posting whatever i like

Also, why do they care?

I don't know what I did wrong that makes you think I am a bigot myself, but I will try to continue educating myself and do better in the future. Maybe I'll stay clear of the reasons, and just say that trans women women, if you identify as male you are a male going forward to avoid misunderstandings.

Here are a couple of well educated young people in the field who really taught me a few things. It's nearly a forty minute video and they have more experience explaining these things than I do.

well , you do sound articulate and sincere , good luck with your new outlook

reply

I've seen many people bring up the "sex spectrum". But not a whole lot of them were able to follow through with it and defend it successfully. But maybe you're better than them?

How about we start by having you explain what is a woman. What exactly is "female"? What sets it apart from everything else on this "sex spectrum" of yours?

Most would disingenuously say "It's nuanced" or "It's complicated" or something like that, and then just end it there. What about you?

reply

he cant, he's only pretending in order to troll people and stir up more tranny hate from fellow bigots

reply

He's talked about this subject before, and didn't sound to me like he's pretending, nor trying to stir up hate towards trans people.

reply

I have to say, it's really distressing and confusing.

I've made an effort to educate myself and my views have shifted over time, but I still get blasted by left pretty often, usually accused of trolling. I thought I was up on the current thinking on gender and sex.

I probably shouldn't dignify questions about how someone's biological sex can be different than what's on their birth certificate, anyway. Maybe that's why I get hate from pro trans people.

reply

“my views have shifted over time”

You could say that your views are transitioning.

reply

Sorry you had to put up with that. However, you are RIGHT to dignify questions about how someone's biological sex can be different than what's on their birth certificate.

They're the ones who insist on changing everyone's understanding of sex and gender, and as such, it's their responsibility to put up with questions that challenge their views. They have no right to leave your understanding of their views incomplete and indefensible, and then blast you for asking questions.

reply

I'm told that someone's sex is whatever they decide is the best fit for them, male, female, or non binary.

By that definition, it makes sense that people should be able to decide for themselves what sex they belong to.

Beyond that, I am not a biologist or a psychologist, so I won't say any more.

Whoever told you that is wrong. What you just described is no different than saying someone's "birth parent" is whoever they decide is the best fit for them, feelings, personality, etc.

Beyond that, I am not a biologist or a psychologist, so I won't say any more.

You shouldn't have talked like you're sure you know what you're talking about then. It's not the first time you did this either.

reply

I am sure. It's just that the current thinking is that sex is more complex than what reproductive system a person has, and I obviously do not explain well enough, since I get roasted by both sides.

Here's a video by two very rational people who are up to date on current knowledge of sex, explaining some of the ideas that really turned around my thinking on the subject.

Do you mind singling out a few points/arguments from that video for discussion? I'd rather not have to watch a whole video that long.

reply

what the F is a "sex spectrum"? everyone is born male or female. you can identify as anything you want when you get older.

I am a lesbian male android. and my pronoun is Who or What.

If that's the case, you must be a big fan of this film:

I tried to watch that. it was too slow for me. the last 20 minutes was good though.

reply

I agree with you.

As for what is a "sex spectrum"? I guess that depends on who says it's real, and is willing to explain it. Many of the ones I've heard explanations from have different takes on it.

I'm waiting to hear what this OP's take on it is.
