I grew up watching a lot of movies in the 80s and 90s and there were plenty being made.
seems to me that sort of stopped at 2000, either that or I grew up. I can name lots of 90s family movies but can't think of any up to now.
what ones are there? good ones, like similar to 80s/90s stuff. not including animated movies, they seem to be the only family type movies out there.

What seems to have become rare are movies for children or family viewing that aren't primarily comedy and/or fantasy, but more reality-based. I mean movies like The Secret Garden (1993), Little Women (1994) or The Bushbaby (1969).

Well I can't think of any of family movies that have come out that wtbgc311 hasn't already mentioned and you don't want animated movies otherwise I would have shown some of the more recent Disney and eve Dreamworks movies. You might have grew up well thinking about it again The Counry Bears, The Haunted Mansion and now the new Jiungle book movie.
