Is acting a fool time job?

I've wanted to be involved in film and the arts since I was young. But, I've given up on that dream. I thought my talent would be enough to convince people but it's not. I'll be working at UPS or A funeral home in a month. I know that I have lost respect for artists since they obviously have no idea what true art is.

Art is subjective. Everyone is rejected, but to put it bluntly, you have to have thick skin to keep at it and accept any criticism you get.

Also, you need years of schooling and training to work at a funeral home, so I highly doubt you'll be working at one within the week.

I don't worry about what people say. I'm a natural. I reject myself before I subject myself. The true test of an artist is whether they have the ability to produce consistently. I've met plenty of art types that think they're talented but they're not. I think it comes naturally. If you have to go to film school or art school to improve your skills then you're not qualified.

Schooling and training to greet mourners, hand out booklets and tell people where to park? Order flowers? Answer the phone? I don't disagree that you would need training to work as an undertaker. UPS requires no training or schooling. I'm sure that depends on the position. But, I think more should be required when handling personal addresses and things like that.

You must worry to some degree what others say if you're giving up. You could definitely keep going, and it's pure arrogance to say that anyone who goes to school for any type of artistic medium isn't qualified or talented. It's the talented ones who go to school in the first place. You can be born with a natural gift for something, but to think that's it, that's the best you're ever going to be, that's sheer stupidity.

You do know that the funeral director is the one who greets mourners, prepares flowers, and provides directions and/or transportation? You need a degree. Good luck with that.

I said produce consistently. Meaning that I continue to get better and I learn more about my craft which includes writing, filmmaking, music, animation, and imagination. I know that I'm better than most. People know that and rather than advise me on how to pursue or manage my time, they ignore me. Yet, they don't hesitate to turn my idea into on of theirs because I'm so great they can waste my time. And so my argument is that the wannabe artists envy the natural artist do nothing to help established artists.

And I wrote a book about my experience. Most wannabe artists get recognition and before they make even a dollar on any of their work they start believing that they're above people. I could be the most talented artist in the world and if my name is not household they won't show me an ounce of respect. They have an inability to understand the nature of the business without being told.

Yeah but if I knew I had natural talent why would I go to school primarily for art?

And I'm sure the funeral director hires help. Sure, they can't bring you on full time but they could part time. Or a few nights in which they pay under the table.

Sounds more like you have an inflated ego than anything else.

If you speak with confidence you're ridiculed. If you don't speak with confidence you're seen as weak. Why would you judge me on the internet? You pay more attention to what's going on inside of me then reading what I write. By trying to define me. You lose a step. By accepting that I am not capable of achieving the improbable I hold everyone back. Is that what you tell young kids? Is everything psychological to you? Man, you IMDb folks are shallow.

How can I pay attention to what's inside of you? I can only judge you by your words, and you think very highly of yourself and whine about others disregarding you. This is the real world. If all you want is someone to hold your hand and tell you how good you are, it's no wonder you're having a wake up call.

Well, it sure as *beep* wouldn't do any good thinking lowly of myself. Whine? And you must stalk me because there's no way you would think that if you understood anything.
