Yeah it’s not a typical comedy, Scorsese doesn’t do ‘lighthearted’, it’s basically an anxiety dream in which try as he might Paul can somehow never seem to get home. I loved the late-night vibe, but Scorsese’s world is so cold and dark and full of unpleasant characters it didn’t quite work for me as a comedy. Very similar to Into The Night which came out the same year. Both films are late night odyssey oddities that fail on various entertainment levels… and yet are strangely seductive. I had the same experience. I was quite freaked out by how he suddenly became nasty and direct. I thought ‘OK this is some kind of psychological horror and we’re now meeting DarkPaul, interesting move Scorsese, I’m in’… but no, it was just a weirdly incongruous moment. It sounds like some people correctly interpreted it as Paul pretending to be an asshole as a means to escape, combined with him becoming agitated over his potential lay turning out to be freaky burn-victim. Either way it seems out of character. A misjudged moment in a muddled, but likeable, movie. It’s not that kind of film, kid It’s always a waste of time to argue with reality. To be clear, the kid does not ‘walk off with’ anyone, and there is no indication that Alice knows more than Bill about his ordeal. You need to distinguish between what is in the film, and what you’ve pulled out of your ass. Well no because T1 and T2 are masterpieces 🤷🏻‍♂️ Common sense. Matches? WW2 leaves WW in the dust. T3 is not canon, and its deleted scenes are even less so. The Terminator sounds like an Austrian farmer because Cameron cast an Austrian beefcake and thought ‘…fuck it’ WW2 is significantly better. Way more gags played with greater confidence. Del Preston instantly takes it to the next level, and that’s before we even mention Christopher Fucking Walken, Kevin Pollak’s albino eye, Swedish Drew Barrymore, Handsome Dan and Mr Scream, the legendary dubbed Kung-Fu battle with James Wong, Charlton Heston, Chris Farley, Kim Basinger, The Tool Box, the melon guys ‘Come men, our work here is done’. I’ll stop because there’s too much awesome to mention. It’s like they gave Myers the keys to the kingdom this time and he ultra-delivered. People are still attached to the original, and it’s charming and funny, but WW2 is a full blown comedy classic no bullshit. 2 is better, by some margin No Bobbysex It wouldn’t be that dumb. Skynet was born in America and was sending an infiltration unit to LA, no way would it set The Terminator’s voice to ‘Austrian farmer’. HCC? Good effort but… no. The Terminator sounds like an Austrian farmer because Cameron cast an Austrian beefcake and thought ‘…fuck it’ Sure, but we known the Terminator can mimic any voice, so why would it be set to ‘Austrian farmer’ in LA? Nah, they’re predatory woke journalists who love to cancel and destroy an innocent man. Many of them will be gay themselves. As others have said, being able to kill at range massively helps the Terminator's mission. But let’s not forget that you’re nitpicking a film in which an infiltration cyborg sent to LA, which can mimic any voice it hears, chooses to adopt that of an Austrian farmer. Dr Who is a woke joke in the UK now, nobody’s watching it anymore. Meh, it works as a character-story device whereby he is called a ‘chicken’ at the very end and this time refuses to rise to the bait, avoiding the car accident that would ruin his life. I also like MJFox’s delivery of ‘nobaady, calls me chicken’, it’s a good catchphrase for Marty, who didn’t really have one before.
