Damon wasn't innocent though i don't know why ppl think he was. He wasn't out and out evil but he was definitely sneaky with dark potential. In the French version Dickie knows Riply's full of shit and he doesn't really hide it, he's just arrogant and complacent enough to let it play out bevause he finds it amusing, until it's too late. 'We do know the reason for the character change and casting choice because the writer/director has explained it: Zaillian liked the subtle menace that Sumner brought to the role' Bollocks! Way too many characters, there wasn't enough to go around and without sounding spiteful, what with the diversity quota's being made mandatory now this film stank of it. The mom just looks chronically depressed in every shot, Podcast who was one of the better parts of the last film was another kind of relegated also changed a lot physically since last film and looked awkward, same for Finn Wolfhard he barely has a role in this same as last really there is so much dead wood here. It started well i had no preconceived hate for this the story had potential villain wise no problems but there was so much shit that wasn't needed. The Sappy Paul Rudd stepfather stuff was lame again another character who was good in the first but weaker and minimalized in this Then you have the lesbo ghost 2024 mandatory storyline with androgynous it's just all to much they need to chill out, the beauty of the first one was the simplicity Also small thing but why didn't Pheobe the genius put bronze in all of the proton packs rather than just her own. Another annoyance was everyone else being NPC'S while she is given star status when i think she annoys most people Michelle Williams Yeah i didn't want to say it because i know people get touchy about prestige films and to be honest what do i know? When every film maker holds this up as the Holy Grail you have to say i guess it's pretty damn good. But they appreciate it on all of the nuanced deeper levels that it no doubt has. But in terms of pure entertainment and rewatchability it wouldn't rank that high for me I have gone through most of his filmography in the last year and thoroughly enjoy all of them i complete get why he is so revered and i agree completely. It could very well be because this one comes out not just number one from his fans but Film in General that my view are slightly prejudiced i actually prefer his lesser 'smaller' films over the big budget Hollywood golden period ones. My favourite is Dial M for Murder that 20 minute scene where he recruits the would be killer is amazing. Suspicion was great take away the ending but i can let that slide. Frenzy and Strangers on a Train also i would put above Vertigo in terms of what i would go back to first. I really liked Lady on Train and 39 Steps also it has that classic English wit and is pleasurable to the ear because everybody speaks so eloquently I even like Marnie which i know gets a lot of hate Vertigo is like one of those films that wins all the awards and you like and appreciate but i don't have the urge to revisit it Rear Window, Psycho and North by Northwest are better films than Vertigo IMO The Birds probably the worst and i haven't seen Shadow of doubt yet which looks very good No she wasn't an awful Actor or anything but that's not the point, they introduce a character whom most ppl watching the show know and are expecting and it's extremely jarring that this young girl shows up and nobody bats an eyelid in the show which is set in the 60's as well We know why they are doing it and it pisses ppl off because it's a complete disrespect to the viewer who are signing up for an engaging story and to escape from real world bullshit not to be party to their retarded politics Thankfully she only has about 4 lines otherwise i think a lot would have not finished the series I thought it was a tad drawn out. I appreciate slower paced stories but i thought this could have been wrapped up a few eps earlier. I mean in the Alan Delon one the whole second half is him walking around enjoying his new fortune while evading capture but it gets away with it. With this one it was almost frozen in time it seemed him moving from hotel to hotel with not that much jeopardy, it never felt like they were closing in on him That said though i would like to see same team continue with the rest of the books that has been talked about, feel like ive seen this version enough now knowing little about the rest I like to watch this one and FRWL back to back, if you wanted to be greedy you could add Thunderball as well. Basically all the Terrence young ones are i think the definitive Bond Films Was that Stings kid? oh ffs that is the cherry on top It's art i guess and i just don't get it View all replies >
