why.. does everyone like it so very much?

It can't be that good... can it?

It's as good as TFA and TLJ. So it's quite good. Yes. It just happens to have some very strong fan service going on which is what a lot of the sequel haters really wanted. Particularly this season.

I just started watching The Mandalorian last month and I found it to be very cool and The Mandalorian himself is very awesome and Pedro Pascal brings a lot of action to the role but what really drawn me to the show was The Child "Grogu' and ever since I fell in love with the plush The Child on Youtube I started to watch the show to learn more about Grogu and find him so adorable. My parents are gonna start watching The Mandalorian too once I'm finished with Season 2 but my mom loves to hear about every episode of the show I see

It's closer to Rogue One than any other Star Wars movie in the essence that things our protagonists do is on a smaller scale, and everything looks a bit more difficult and dreadful (although, nothing comes close to Rogue One in that regard). Cruising towards a planet, your ship is interdicted by two x-wings, and you actually feel that they are a real threat. A TIE fighter lands in the middle of a town, and it's a real threat. An Imperial officer stops you to ask a question, and it's a real threat. I'm so sick of teddy bears beating a gigantic army and of watching a bunch of morons running around a battlestation and coming out just fine.
I want to see how difficult it is to do something against the empire, or the new republic. I want to see how similar/different the new republic is to what it replaced. How people's lives have changed since the empire collapsed. I want to see how ordinary people get by. That's why i like Mandalorian better than yet another Star "everyone-is-somehow-related-to-skywalkers" Wars movie.

Perfectly well said.

They make everything feel weighty, costly, and have consequences.

Mando having to get his ship repaired and refueled wherever he goes is a great touch to the show. Constantly doing patch-work here and there was a nice touch as well. I was a bit more devastated than I should have been when I saw his ship get nuked by Gideon. It seemed like a part of Mando died with the ship.

That's great writing and storytelling right there.
