Why was Khan so mean to Polo the last couple episodes of S2?

Was it because he let his father go, or something else?

Marco is the father of the kids? HUH??? What about the stable boy that raped her?

reply

Marco is NOT the father of the twins, he slept with Kokachin well before her wedding to Jingim, and there's a scene where she is washing bloody clothes, meaning she was bleeding, she had been married to Jingim for a few monts before she finally got pregnant from the stable boy.

So what was the secret She told Marco?

That she wasn't actually the Princess, that she was just the servant to the Princess. Chabi is the only one else to know this.

Ahmed and Kublai (and Kokachin I think) only find out about the fact that baby is not Jinghim's they don't know about her humble origins,

Oh, I see what you mean. I mistook you. She told Marco that the baby wasn't Jinghim's and probably that Chabi manipulated her rape which is why Marco gives Chabi a dirty look right after. That's why Chabi later tells the Khan that Marco also knows.

The rant Kublai makes to his son in the tent during the birthing scene makes it clear. He had just been betrayed by 1 foreign born son who he gave a lot of leeway and power to and then he sees Marco, another foreign born guy who he gave power and prestige to, letting his father escape when Kublai had it made it pretty clear that he wanted him dead. So in a sense, Marco betrayed Kublai in a time where Kublai must have been reevaluating his trust to "non-blood" members of his inner circle.

this plus I think they were starting to figure out that the women pretending to be the Blue Princess really loved Marco..

I wanted Marco to take kokachin and the kids away when he visited her at the tent to say goodbye. But now Marco made to be back because of the almighty pope's doing, back to being the khan's b!tch.

I for one so wanted to see Marco have a nice normal family and live to enjoy it.

I see it as something of a continuity error.. Marco goes from being trusted advisor to pariah and back between episodes.. thats kind of stupid :)

Let me show you the deep raw passion of unbridled sexual frenzy. But Lucy... im British

Apparently that's actually how Kublai was. Really erratic and unstable one moment and then forgiving and kind the next.

In the last episode by kokachin's tent, Empress explained it well to Marco that her husband is ignorant not seeing the sacrifices made for him by the people in his service.

He was feeling betrayed by Ahmad, who he considered his son, and who he had raised from childhood as his own, so he was distrustful of anyone, and he saw Marco let his father go, which in his eyes was a betrayal, adding to that the fact that the Kurultai was coming, and people said they didn't like that he was very inclusive of other cultures and faiths, so having Marco as a trusted adviser and practically treating him as a son was seen unfavorably by his people.

I think he just took out all his anger on Marco. I mean, Marco has proven himself loyal to the Khan on many occasions, he even branded his own father and banished him from ever returning to the east.

The anger and suspicion only increased when Kokachin (aka Nergüi) wanted to see Marco, and not Jingim, especially since Chabi was the one defending him, being that before these last episodes, she had been nothing but critical and distrustful of him.
