who knows?

No, she wasn't abused.

Yes. She was abused by her mother as shown in the scene where the mother is telling her to imagine being abused and that it happened no matter what the truth is.

I thought maybe the father, but no.

The brother (Lukas?) had a thing for her though. His face when she first accuses the teacher. He had more than brotherly love. But I don't think he acted on it. He was a coward. For instance, I'm sure he killed the dog and threw the rock. Also he trie do shoot the teacher at the end, but didn't have the guts. He's not a man in contrast to the teacher and his son.

Do you mean as in s******y in any way or JUST abused in OTHER way ala physical and whatnot?

Also - although THAT type of abuse, for which the character of Lucas was wrongly and falsely accused did NOT happen, and the film's main story overall is Lucas and how he is trying to recover his reputation after suffering the effects of false accusation as such.

P.S. Its interesting how, even WITH controversies around it and especially its subject matter, this is still a very acclaimed film that gets mostly very positive reviews. And its not as if those people, critics and audiences, are in any way unaware about the ACTUAL official child abuse matter and not the different side related to one party being mistakenly labelled as a guilty offender and suffering the consequences from it in his society that he lives in. So THAT aspect of the story ala "Yeah, we all know murder is terrible and wrong, but occasionally we have seen films about people wrongly accused of murder and no one thought that issue was TRIVIALIZING the real murder cases etc" DOES have a right to exist and, in spite of certain opinions who may claim otherwise, it wasn't in any way insulting to the original issues.

P.P.S. and yes this film was based on several true stories. Although its director also made at least ONE film about ACTUAL child abuse as such and not where one party was mistakenly and wrongly accused of it, "Festen" ("The Celebration") in 1998.

P.P.P.S - Good and evil in real life, simple concepts and easily definable or complex and with shades of grey? And THIS type of matter, as portrayed in the movie, where does it stand?

sexually abused?

reply

Well, in this movie, unless you count the scene where the brother and his friend foolishly in front of her demonstrate a pornographic image on their ipad tablet then no, nobody including especially no adult has done any kind of rights violating sexually abusive pedophiliac deed against that girl child. If that's what you are asking hownos.

And on a related note, this movie was NOT in any way, shape or form made was meant to be in any way, even indirectly, as a form of "help" to potentially or even officially guilty child molesters, right? Not even in a sense that including the topic of a man falsely accused of it can be considered a small part of it, right?

And we as audience CAN indeed watch and judge its topic very much on its OWN terms, no matter how awful and prevalent, and most of us DO indeed KNOW it (so nothing too groundbreaking here, news wise!) the official actual child molesting issue in humanity overall is and even how different.

Right?

that was my question. thanks.
