Etains Final Thoughts

In Etains final moments before dying, I was curious what might have been going through her mind other than 'oh $#@% that hurts'. If she had impaled him, she would have undoubtedly twisted the blade around maximizing his agony for his final moments, but when Quintas thrusts his sword through her and is no longer in danger, he does not do any such thing. Instead he gently lowers her as if to minimize her suffering and discomfort. I wonder if in her pain she recognized that. She must have realized that he could have made that much worse for her (as she had done to other victims), but instead the man she had hunted clearly took no pleasure in her demise other than relief at having survived and tried to be gentle in those final seconds of her life. He even waited until she was dead to pull the blade out. Was she finally see her enemy as something other than a monster, or did her rage and physical pain from being impaled blind her to that?
