Casting a Justice League movie in the 90s

Say that a Justice League movie was released for say 1993 or 1994, here's who I would cast for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter, who are my chosen roster.

Bruce Wayne/Batman - Michael Keaton
Clark Kent/Superman - Christopher Reeve or Gerald Christopher
Wonder Woman - Lucy Lawless or Sandra Bullock
Barry Allen/The Flash - Keanu Reeves or Emilio Estevetz
Arthur Curry/Aquaman - Patrick Swayze, Brad Pitt or Dolph Lundgren
J'onn Jonzz/Martian Manhunter - Laurence Fishburne or Denzel Washington

I had Gerald Christopher, who played the character on Superboy in the 80s as backup choice in case Reeve turned down the role and had his accident came in 1995 which would not allow any sequels to happen. However having Reeve and Keaton reprising their roles would have them be the more established seasoned heroes along with Wonder Woman who is said to be around for centuries.

My director of choice would be Richard Donner. I would go with an entirely new cast. Adding Green Lantern to the roster.

Batman - Mel Gibson

Superman - John Cusack

Wonder Woman - Geena Davis

Flash - Keanu Reeves

Green Lantern - Billy Campbell

Aquaman - Patrick Swayze

Martian Manhunter - Ernie Hudson

Villains would be the Legion of Doom led by Lex Luthor and it will be allied with Darkseid. The lineup would be

Lex Luthor - John Malkovich

Joker - Willem Dafoe

Cheetah - Sigourney Weaver

Reverse Flash - Jeff Goldblum

Black Manta - Keith David

Star Sapphire - Teri Hatcher

Darkseid - Brian Thompson

More like this:

Batman: Val Kilmer
Superman: Christopher Reeve
Wonder Woman: Sandra Bullock
Barry Allen: Brad Pitt
Aquaman: Dolph Lundgren
Martian Manhunter: Denzel Washington
Green Lantern: Mel Gibson

and Plastic Man: Jim Carrey

reply

Switch out Gibson and Kilmer for Batman and GL. But other than that, good list.

What about Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman or John Wesley Shipp as The Flash if we're going to include TV actors like Gerald Christopher? It wasn't like Lynda Carter was "too old" to still play Diana Prince as she was roughly, the same age in real life as Michael Keaton as well as Christopher Reeve.

Fair point. I get the appeal of teaming Michael Keaton up with Christopher Reeve AND Lynda Carter. But I think this would had flopped. Hate to say it. I believe they would had been better off starting with a clean slate of actors at the time.
