So this is what Americans think of the British military?

A bunch of incompetent pansies who need big tough Americans to save them because even their SAS is so weak they haven't got anything on US Army infantry.

It's not just this movie either, a whole load of American films portray Brits in this way, being a bunch of weak, pathetic pansies who are more suited to sipping tea and eating scones then doing real men's work.

So, would you say this is generally what Americans think of the British military?

They were very unconvincing mercenaries though but very convincing war correspondents. If they had bullet proof vests saying 'TV' then the actors would have been convincing.

I imagine some British views would take this scene personally, but its really nothing to get all worked up about. You don't have to be British to get a flat tire or to have your engine seize up and find yourselves stranded in the desert. That could have happened to a unit of any nationality, even believe it or not, Americans.

I think people are missing the point. It's their demeanour that was unconvincing since there's no way the actors they cast made convincing members of the US armed forces with the exception of Ralph Fiennes. That's why I said they like a news crew. Certainly not military.

It's not even just American movies or books. Like the British movie The Patrol and the British book Dead Men Risen and the British book Task Force Black. There seems to be a certain faction of Brits who delight in making their own military look bad too.

Well Let see

In 1776 we, a small colony, kicked the ass of what was considered the best military in the world at that time
THEN we did it again in 1812
THEN in 1918 WE went to France and saved the Brits and the French, and kicked Deutschland's ass at the same time
Then we did it again in 1941-45

SOooo the Brits try but don't really stand up do they??

Turns out all the best British soldiers went to America and rebelled. No wonder England has failed since.

Now they’re getting taken over by Muslims.
