This film gets accused of being a ripoff off Fern Gully, Dances With Wolves and Pocahontas.
Weird how no one accused those movies of being ripoffs of each other.

shareI did. it was so obvios they were standins for indians.
shareI've never thought of it as a ripoff of any other movie. I've always just thought of it as a retelling of American history. Only set on another planet and with extremely lavish, colorful, gorgeous, extravagant imagery/groundbreaking special effects.
shareIt's not like Pocahontas at all, I don't know why people say that. It is A LOT like Atlantis: The Lost Empire, where guy goes on expedition to strange new world, falls in love with the princess, and helps the nation stop a guy who looks just like the Avatar villain from exploiting the new world for money while flying around on creature-looking Atlantean technology.
shareMaybe they think natives being in a movie are all the same.
